We are looking for a Paramedic to join our team. Under general supervision of ED physician and assigned RN and following established policies and procedures, the Paramedic will provide immediate medical intervention to non-acute, critically ill and injured patients of all ages with a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions, providing appropriate stabilization prior to disposition.


  • Renders appropriate immediate emergency care per established department procedures.
  • Initiates and/or assists with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation in a pulseless, non-breathing patient per established department procedure.
  • Under direct supervision of registered nurse or physician and in an emergency situation, may administer
  • parenteral medications in accordance with State regulations.
  • Administers oxygen therapy as ordered per established department procedure.  Suctions pharyngeally, nasal pharyngeally and endotracheally.
  • Upon direction of the ED physician or assigned RN, may do the following:  a) administer intervenous saline or glucose solution;  b) perform gastric suction by intubation; or c) perform endotracheal intubation.
  • Checks and records vital signs and intake and output.  Draws blood per venipuncture from peripheral veins. 
  • Communicates observations/pertinent patient information to physician or assigned RN in a timely manner.
  • Keeps patient and family member informed of treatment and timeframes per department procedure, always treating customers with dignity and respect.
  • Documents in a timely, legible manner per established procedure.
  • Prepares patients for treatments per established procedure.  Prepares equipment and supplies and assists physician or RN as necessary.  Observes patients following procedures and implements interventions per established protocol.  Keeps physician and nurse informed of unexpected changes in patients’ conditions.
  • Transports patients to assigned room or to other department for treatment.
  • Checks treatment rooms for proper equipment and supplies.  Maintains stock in work areas per established procedure.
  • Incorporates knowledge for patients’ age, growth and development, culture, religion and other specific needs.  Knows and protects patients’ rights, especially in regard to confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Training as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic.
  • Current Missouri Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) license.
  • Two years active experience providing Advanced Life Support care as an EMT-P preferred.
  • Current CPR, CPI and ACLS certification required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated computer ability.
