The Environmental Services Lead is responsible for assisting the EVS Director as assigned; training/orienting new personnel; providing direction to assigned employees; and completing assigned cleaning or project tasks.


  • Cleans assigned areas and has working knowledge of various cleaning chemicals and solutions, prepares cleaning solutions, maintains and distributes required supplies in assigned areas.  Performs major floor refinishing or carpet restoration using prescribed methods.
  • Inspects work during activity and at completion.  Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding effectiveness and efficiency of department practices, procedures and working systems.  Issues work groups’ equipment (including beepers/keys) and inspect its cleanliness when equipment is returned and stored properly per established department and safety guidelines.
  • Operates and maintains equipment as necessary for cleaning assigned area and maintaining a safe environment.  Performs routine inspections of electrical equipment used by EVS team and either makes on-the-spot corrections, or locks out/tags out dangerous equipment according to policy/procedures.
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises the movement of equipment and furniture within the facility (as requested) with attention to detail, and in a timely manner.
  • Assigns tasks for designated work group as delegated by Manager and oversees the completion of the work group's assignments on a daily basis.  Follows up on complaints regarding poor service in a timely manner 100% of the time.
  • Provides feedback to manager on staff performance; provides feedback for performance reviews.
  • Attends and participates in department meetings and committees as directed.  Works on special projects and committees at the request of their immediate Manager.  Maintains professional growth and development through education programs, trade journals, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Three to five years of institutional housekeeping/EVS experience preferred
  • CPI
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
